Guggenheim Museum

The Guggenheim Museum in New York CityThe Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, established in 1937, is a progressive museum for modern art that is in New York City's Upper East Side. Several museums have been started by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, however, this one in New York is the most well known, and many times is just called The Guggenheim. It is the most recognized museum in the city of New York.

Smithsonian Museum

Smithsonian MuseumThe Smithsonian Institution is in Washington D.C. and was started based on the will of British scientist James Smithson who had never been to the U.S. His will stated that if his nephew, Henry James Hungerford, passes on without heirs, his estate would go the United States government to establish a facility for the"increase & diffusion of Knowledge among men". When the nephew died without heirs in 1835, President Andrew Jackson told Congress about this bequest which was $500,000 at that time.
